Battle Bot Bonanza is a game designed by then-student Luke Ehresman to teach artificial intelligence programming in a contest environment. Contestants create virtual “bots” that compete in an arena using programming. The last bot standing wins.
The game provides contestants with a complete application program interface (API) of how to program with C++, Java, and Python within the interface. The program also offers simple examples of using the bot.
Several programming competitions have since used the software with great success. Students have found the contest environment and API easy to learn and fun to program. To find out more, visit the project site.
