Battle Bot Bonanza is a game designed by student Luke Ehresman to teach artificial intelligence programming in a contest environment. The idea is for contestants to create the intelligence for virtual “bots” that can compete in an arena. The bots fight each other and the last bot standing wins.
A complete, well-documented API is provided to contestants in C++, Java, and Python. Simple examples of using the bot API also are provided.
The software has been used in several programming competitions with great success. Students have found the contest environment and API easy to learn and fun to program. To find out more, visit the project’s Web site.
