Students Board the Logos Hope

Over J-Term this year, ten of our computer science students boarded the MV Logos Hope, a German Christian charitable ship. Spending time at sea as well as in port at Hong Kong, the students helped rebuild a new intranet system for the ship.

Here’s the official news release from the ship:

Logos Hope has been blessed by the arrival of 10 information technology students from Taylor University in Indiana, USA who are staying on board for two weeks. The team and their professor are working on rebuilding eLounge, the ship’s intranet system. They will build a new version of the system and will continue to work on the project when they go home, in partnership with the ship’s IT staff. While the team are on board, they are enjoying meeting the ship’s diverse crew. “It is very cool how multicultural the community on board is,” said Noah Bresley (USA). “I have had some really good conversations. I grew up overseas but a lot of our team have only lived in the US so it is a very new experience for them.”

It was a great oppurtunity for the students, who got to experience new cultures, new places, and develop meaningful new software.
