We have converted our department servers to a new virtual architecture with SAN (Storage Area Network) data storage. Web, mail, moodle, DNS, DHCP, and all those other acronyms are now running on a set of 3 vmware ESX machines. We also have moved file space, database, etc to a Drobo system with a second Drobo unit serving as primary backup.
We are making major changes in other areas as well this summer, partly to prepare us for increased demand and functionality as we move into the Euler Science Center in Fall 2012.
